On 21st March 2016, ILC held a motivational meeting with representatives of civil society organizations (CSOs) in Nova Gradiska.

Attendees were the Information Legal Centre's representative Natasa Kovacevic - Project Coordinator and Marina Baric-Gacic, Project Assistant for Brod-posavina County, Petar Herljevic, representative of the "Prevention“, for prevention of juvenile socio-pathological behaviour and Milorad Jovanov, representative of the  “Association of the Blind“ Nova Gradiska.

Following the local elections in Nova Gradiska, participants shared their experiences regarding cooperation of CSOs with representatives of local governments, experiences with contract tenders, occasional unclear criteria related to allocation of funds as well as insufficient funds.

Milorad Jovanov, representative of the “Association of the Blind“, emphasized that the regular monitoring of the types and the extent of stereotypes related to the people with disabilities of his association is being conducted on a regular basis. He pointed out that a certain number of beneficiaries and/or members of the Association are elderly people who, due to the physical limitations and health condition, are not able to access the premises of the Association. He personally visited them in order to conduct the monitoring through direct surveys of as many people possible.

Peter Herljević has reported on the progress of survey on awareness of young people on the "Youth Guarantee" measure. He will distribute a link to an online questionnaire to the Associations’ beneficiaries.

Participants were also informed of a three-day follow-up training in Osijek, one of the activities within the two-year project „Civil Society for Accountable Governance". Project  is funded by the European Union under the IPA 2011 programme “Reinforcing Support of CSOs in Enhancing Transparency and Good Governance in Croatian Public Administration.”
