The Information and Legal Assistance Center (IPC) (formerly the International Rescue Committee (IRC) Croatia Legal Assistance Center (LAC)) has been implementing its Legal Assistance Program in Slavonski Brod since 1997 with the support of BPRM and UNHCR. The IPC is the only center of its kind in Slavonia, offering crucial free legal services to the vulnerable refugee, returnee, and internally displaced person populations in Croatia and Republika Srpska (B-H). The court and administrative assistance the IPC provides on both sides of the border greatly facilitates the return of its clients to their pre-war communities by securing their statutory and property rights as well as by fostering a positive return environment through advocating for new laws, or the enforcement of existing laws, that support minority return. The statutory and property rights gained through the assistance of IPC staff are key to returnees getting access to services that sustain their return.
